aka Junk journal/ smash journal/ scrap journal
by Elis Cooke.
"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." --Oscar Wilde
Wabi-sabi (侘寂?) represents Japanese aesthetics...centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete". Characteristics of the wabi-sabi aesthetic include asymmetry, roughness, simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, intimacy, and appreciation of the ingenuous integrity of natural objects and processes. -- Wikipedia
“wabi-sabi... focuses on finding beauty within the imperfections of life and accepting peacefully the natural cycle of growth and decay.” Collins Dictionary
The insert cover is made with heavy cover stock. The interior pages are collections of a variety of papers which may include rice, bond, cartridge, and sketch paper. These pages have been stained, monoprinted and/or hand-painted with acrylic, watercolour or ink as part of the exploration and processes of creating art. Each page is one of a kind, perfectly imperfect...
The junk journal can be refilled with the inserts which can be easily added to the cover by slipping the used pages out and sliding the new pages in under the elastic [similar to a midori or fauxdori]. Or you can use them as collage papers to decorate your notebooks as they are not sewn together.
Size: 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 x 1/8 inches or 14 x 11 x 0.5 cm
***Please note the photos are indicative of the nature of these notebooks. Your insert/refill will be a random choice based on available colours currently on hand. Most of these notebooks are multi-coloured but you can indicate a preference for dominant colours in the notes to seller, which I will try to accommodate.
***To make your own journal with a refillable binding see the pdf tutorial available now:
NOTE: Colour Accuracy can VARY depending upon monitor settings. Metallic paints tend to shift depending upon the light source, so it can be difficult to capture accurate tones. Photos are taken in natural light with no flash.
